Application
for Graduate Admission - The Application
and all supporting materials (transcripts, letters of
recommendation, test scores) must be received by December
3. Your application will not be reviewed until all
materials have been submitted.
Faculty Sponsorship - When you complete section B in the Application
for Graduate Admission, we require that you list no more than
four faculty members with whom you would like to work. List in
order of preference and briefly explain your reasons. See
Faculty and Specialists
and Graduate Students
to determine which ESPM faculty members are doing research that
particularly interests you. Note: Upon admission to ESPM,
each graduate student will be assigned a faculty sponsor. However,
assignment of faculty sponsorship is not determined until all
applications are reviewed and final admission offers have been
made.
Letters of Recommendation - We ask that letters of recommendation be submitted
as a pdf by the recommender via email and sent to espmgrad@nature.berkeley.edu
from an academic email address, i.e., ‘edu.’ When
seeking recommendations, allow sufficient time for the letter to
reach us by the December 3 application deadline.
Special Requirements In addition to courses that fulfill your
undergraduate degree, ESPM requires a basic college-level
statistics course. Note: If your undergraduate degree is
in a field unrelated to Environmental Science, Policy, &
Management, we strongly recommend that you complete basic biology,
basic chemistry, and calculus before applying, or plan to take such
courses early in your graduate program. Consult with faculty or the
Graduate Student Services office if you have questions about
required courses in your area of interest
Final Decision on Acceptance - Once ALL application materials are received, the
ESPM Admissions Committee will review your application and then
make recommendations for acceptance to the Dean of the Graduate
Division. The final decision on admission acceptance is made by the
Dean of the Graduate Division. We will notify you of your
acceptance by early March.
